FULL MEMBERSHIP - Interior and Non-Interior
I. Full Membership-Interior - required to have VDFP Firefighter I.
II. Full Membership-Non-Interior - required to have VDFP BPO and EVOC III.
A. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
B. Must be NIMS compliant within one year.
C. Required to serve a six (6) month probationary period.
D. Will have a voice on the floor in all Department meetings.
E. After completion of any and all probationary periods, will be eligible to vote on all Department business.
F. Will observe all rules, regulations, and procedures establishes by this Department; failure to do so will result in disciplinary action as outlined in this document and Department policies.
G. Required to attend one Business Meeting and Training Meeting per quarter and give 100 hours of documented service time per year.
H. Required to submit a criminal background check.
Associate/Auxiliary Membership
A. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
B. Must be NIMS compliant, if active, within one year.
C. Required to serve a six (6) month probationary period.
D. Will have a voice on the floor at all Department meetings.
E. After completion of any and all required probationary periods, will be eligible to vote on all Department business with the exception of Election of Line Officers and Fill Membership Requests.
F. Will observe all rules, regulations, and procedures established by this Department; failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
G. As an associate member you are required to attend one business and training meeting per quarter and 50 hours of documented service time per year. If an auxiliary member, they are required to attend on business meeting per quarter and give 50 hours of documented service per year. (In order to get a tax break from Nelson County, individuals must give 100 hours regardless of membership status, except for Life Members.)
H. Required to submit to a criminal background check.
Junior Membership
A. Must be sixteen (16) years of age.
B. Must be in good standing within their school community and maintain a C average.
C. Must be NIMS complaint within one year.
D. Will have a voice on the floor at all Department meetings.
E. Will observe all rules, regulations, and procedures established by this Department; failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
F. Required to attend one business meeting and training meeting per quarter.
G. Parents or guardians will have final say with regards to activity of the member in the department.
H. Years of service as a Junior Member will count towards Life Membership.
Life Membership
A. Must have given at least fifteen (15) years of active service to the Department or been incapacitated in the line of duty or due to illness or injury with the discretion of the department.
B. Must request Life Membership status in writing and be approved by the membership.
C. Will observe all rules, regulations, and procedures established by this Department; failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
D. Required to attend one business meeting per quarter to retain voting rights for Election of Line Officers.
Board of Managers Membership
A. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
B. Must be in good standing in the community.
C. Must be a citizen within the Department's Fire District.
D. Required to attend 65% of the Board of Managers Meetings.
E. Will serve on the Department's Board of Managers.
F. Required to submit to a criminal background check.
